A K2 name alone does not define a quotation. Record the form, content basis, carrier and intended product before comparing suppliers.
NIH ODS distinguishes vitamin K1 from the menaquinone forms grouped as K2. Supplement forms include MK-4 and MK-7. These names should remain distinct in an ingredient enquiry.
Record the required form and the supplier’s full material name. If development is comparing alternatives, give each its own specification rather than ranking every K2 offer in a single price column.
Record the weight of the supplied material, its declared ingredient content and the units used. A carrier-containing premix cannot be compared with another concentration simply by looking at price per kilogram.
Ask the specification to identify the content basis, analytical method, carriers and other components. Preserve the source figures and a checked calculation sheet; milligrams and micrograms must not be treated as interchangeable.

Where a supplier describes fermentation, carriers or processing, request supporting documentation instead of copying a sales description. Align the material name and specification version with the batch certificate of analysis.
This supports comparison and traceability. It does not establish approval of a particular product in any market. Ingredient eligibility, labels and claims still require review for the destination and final formulation.
Give the development team the proposed serving configuration, other ingredients, packaging direction and intended storage conditions. Agree which questions need samples or stability assessment before committing to purchasing quantities.
