An ingredient’s two-year storage period does not automatically establish a two-year shelf life for the finished supplement. Formulation, processing and packaging change the material’s environment. Planning stability assessment early helps connect quality requirements, the launch timetable and distribution conditions in a realistic OEM project plan.
Choose the relevant attributes for the product, such as selected constituent content, viable count, appearance, taste or moisture-related characteristics. Different formulas and formats may require different methods. Establish acceptance criteria and reporting bases before beginning the work; a statement that the sample looks normal is insufficient to answer every quality question. Align the assessment with the ingredient file and finished-product specification.
Record the formula version, batch, packaging and seal used for each assessment sample. If those differ from the commercial pack, explain how the results apply to it. Repeated use after opening is a separate question from sealed storage. Where after-opening directions are needed, address that use situation explicitly rather than extrapolating every conclusion from unopened samples.

Real-time and accelerated-condition observations answer related but different questions. Accelerated work can help identify vulnerabilities, but its use in supporting a proposed shelf life requires a justified approach rather than a universal multiplier. Agree sampling points, conditions, sample quantities and reporting responsibilities early. Existing supplier information can inform the plan without replacing finished-product assessment.
A different ingredient supplier, blend proportion or packaging material should prompt a review of the existing evidence. Quality specifications help define the assessment beyond release testing. US specification requirements illustrate how identity, purity, strength and composition are documented; they are a US example. Determine the actual project and market requirements separately when agreeing the finished-product plan.
There is no universal answer. Agree the launch basis and follow-up work with the relevant quality and professional teams using available evidence, product characteristics and destination-market requirements.
