Keep ingredient identity connected to opening, repacking, remaining quantities and handovers so that later users can trace the material.
Before repacking, confirm the material name, internal code, supplier lot and receiving reference. Identification on the new container should connect to the original container and documents rather than relying on a shortened nickname.
This article offers workflow discussion points. FDA’s dietary supplement CGMP guide provides US context for components, holding and records. The actual system depends on the facility, process and applicable market requirements.
The first opening date, repacking date, operator and receiving container can be recorded separately. If one lot is split into several containers, internal sub-identifiers can preserve each link to the original batch.
Do not extend a supplier’s expiry date on a repacking label or infer an after-opening period from appearance. Storage, reclosing and use conditions need an appropriate assessment based on the ingredient information.

Handover records can distinguish the repacked quantity, quantity used, remainder and unresolved differences. Retain the units, weighing references and material status. Where figures do not reconcile, record the issue and who will resolve it.
Released, awaiting-test and quarantined states should be clear to the receiving person. A container carrying a material name does not by itself establish that the material is ready for the next operation.
Choose one internal repacked container and try to retrieve its supplier lot, receiving information, specification version and destination records. A process that depends on one colleague’s memory deserves a review of its labels or handovers.
The objective is for another qualified person to reconstruct the material history. Keep the basis for any storage period, use restriction or quality decision. Operational convenience should not replace the necessary assessment.
