A dated US gummy study illustrates how to read label-versus-measurement comparisons without generalising to every current product.
In April 2023, JAMA published a US melatonin-gummy study comparing labelled and measured quantities in purchased samples and finding discrepancies in some products. This is a research retrospective, not new testing from October 2026.
The results concern those samples and methods. They do not describe every current US or Hong Kong product and are not tests or comparisons of ACC products.
Ask whether results are per gummy, per serving or per suggested daily amount. Review how agreement was defined rather than extracting only the largest discrepancy.
Record the materials, purchase period, sample count and method summary. A study of one format should not automatically be extended to capsules, powders or other products.

Our editorial suggestion is to confirm content calculations, mixing and processing arrangements and appropriate finished-product testing during development. Link artwork to the reviewed formula revision.
Investigate any actual discrepancy using applicable procedures and documentation. A news story cannot establish its cause for a particular supplier, and results from different samples or methods are not necessarily comparable.
This article recommends no melatonin use or amount and establishes no suitability for a particular population or sales market. Those questions require separate assessment.
The practical takeaway is a clear record of identity, assay basis, testing scope and revisions, with public wording confined to the evidence available.
